Going to work for a startup? Hiring employees for your startup? Whether you’re a potential employee or a founder, you need to strike a balance between equity and cash compensation and negotiate a fair offer. This workshop will cover types of equity, how to value companies and offers, how to determine and negotiate a balanced compensation package, and other topics in employee compensation.
Charlie is a partner at Brooklyn Bridge Ventures and an active member of the NYC venture capital and startup community. He has worked at Union Square Ventures and First Round Capital and teaches entrepreneurship and business of technology at Fordham University. Charlie founded nextNY, which has run over 50 events on entrepreneurship and Path 101, a Business Insider Startup 2009 Conference Finalist. He also runs a very popular startup blog.
Jamie first learned about equity while tracking Asian blue chip stocks as a hedge fund analyst, she then worked with angel investors at Golden Seeds. Currently she works as Operations Director at Tipping Point Partners, a startup that hosts, invests in, and manages startups. As Operations Director, she manages Tipping Point Partners’ day-to-day internal operations and finances. Jamie will be teaching a class titled Startup Equity 101 Primer for Employees on October 10th.
Zeke acts as a general corporate legal adviser to entrepreneurial companies and individuals. Recent engagements include capital-raising transactions, employee equity incentive grants, copyright and trademark licensing, business development partnerships, and small business acquisitions.
